1. Introduction

Unary Works LLC ("Company", "we", "us") operates Etym, a design token extraction service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our web application and Chrome extension (collectively, the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials through our third-party authentication provider (Supabase/Google OAuth).

Analysis Data

When you use the Service to analyze a website, we collect:

• The URL of the analyzed page
• The page title
• Extracted CSS properties (colors, typography, spacing, layout)
• A screenshot of the analyzed page for visual analysis
• Cleaned HTML structure (without personal content)

Chrome Extension Data

The Etym Chrome extension displays a floating button on supported web pages so you can start an analysis quickly. The extension only begins analyzing a page after you explicitly click the floating button. When you do, it collects design-related data from the page being analyzed. The extension:

• Displays a floating trigger on supported pages before any analysis begins
• Only extracts page styles, captures a screenshot, and sends analysis data after you click the floating button
• Reads authentication cookies for the etym.dev domain solely to verify your login status when communicating with our API
• Does not collect personal information from web pages (form data, passwords, etc.)
• Does not track your browsing history or activity across websites
• Does not access data from tabs other than the one being analyzed
• Does not monitor your browsing or analyze pages unless you explicitly start an analysis

Profile Information

You may optionally provide a display name and upload a profile avatar. This information is stored in our database and cloud storage respectively, and is visible only to you.

Usage Data

We may collect basic usage information such as feature usage patterns and error logs to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the Service
• Generate design token reports from analyzed websites
• Store your saved reports and pinboard
• Improve and optimize the Service
• Communicate important updates about the Service

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a managed database platform. Screenshots are stored in secure cloud storage. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or personalization. We may share data with:

• Supabase: Database and authentication provider that stores your account data, reports, and pinboard
• OpenAI: Extracted CSS data (colors, typography, spacing) and page structure are sent to OpenAI's API for semantic analysis and design token generation after you start an analysis. No personal information, form data, or page content beyond design-related CSS properties is shared with OpenAI
• Cloud hosting: Screenshots and avatar images are stored in secure cloud storage (Supabase Storage)
• Legal requirements: When required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management only. These cookies are set by our authentication provider (Supabase) on the etym.dev domain and are necessary for the Service to function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies.

The Chrome extension reads these authentication cookies solely to verify your login status when sending analysis requests to our API after you choose to run an analysis. The extension does not create, modify, or share cookies with any third party.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Analysis reports are retained until you delete them or your account is terminated. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your design reports
• Withdraw consent for data processing

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Google API Limited Use Disclosure

Etym's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

• We only use data for the single purpose of providing design token extraction
• We do not transfer data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the Service (OpenAI for analysis, Supabase for storage)
• We do not use data for advertising, personalization, or credit assessment
• We do not sell or transfer data to data brokers or information resellers
• Human access to user data occurs only with explicit consent, for security purposes, or when required by law
